Our Admissions Process

Step 1: School Visit

Because Darchei Noam Montessori offers a different educational model than any of the other schools in our community, it is important that parents assess our environment’s potential fit for their family.  For that reason, we require that prospective parents attend an Information Session/Observation to begin the Admissions process.  During the 1-hour session, prospective parents will learn about Darchei Noam, have an opportunity to observe in a classroom and ask questions.

Step 2: Application

Following your attendance at the Information Session, we will send you a link to our application.  Our Primary Division is for children ages three to six years with priority going to children at age three years. All children entering our program must be fully toilet-trained by the start of school. Applications can be submitted for any child prior to their third birthday with up to a three year wait to begin in our program. Our Elementary Division is for children ages 6-12 (grades 1-6).  Applications are kept on file and your child is added to our waiting list; it is not necessary to resubmit an application every year.  Parents who have an application on file are notified as potential openings occur.  If space allows, we admit qualified students at anytime during the school year.

We strive to balance our Primary classes by age and gender. Priority consideration is given in both Primary and Elementary divisions to qualified students in this order: siblings of currently enrolled families, students transferring from other Montessori schools, and then all other qualified applicants.

Step 3: Child Meeting

In our Primary Division, your child will spend a morning in the classroom to assess their fit for Darchei Noam Montessori.  For Elementary admissions, your child will spend the full-day at Darchei Noam. These are very non-threatening visits where your child will be able to explore with some of the Montessori learning materials, talk about, and show us how they like to learn.   Montessori is a great fit for many types of children. Working with Rabbi Jonathan Rietti, our program follows closely to the words of chazal: “Chanoch l’naar al pi darko” (educate a child according to his way). Tapping in to each child’s intelligences, we strive to truly learn a child’s best learning method and work to strengthen all areas of development.

We will notify you of your application’s status within 10 business days of the Child Visit.

Step 4: Enrollment

Upon acceptance, you’ll complete an online enrollment form which includes a non-refundable $180 enrollment & supply fee.  During the enrollment process, you’ll have an opportunity to sign up for a tuition payment plan that meets your needs.  View our Tuition & Assistance page for more details.
